Should A Taxi Driver Have To Complete An Advanced Driving Course Before Being Issued With A Taxi Permit?
If you charge the general public a fee to provide a service then the public have the right to be protected by ensuring the driver is of above average standard as well as the car being to taxi standards.

Yes, they should have some form of additional driver training, because a passenger is entrusting their life to someone they don’t know. Also, it would help if some of them had a better grasp of the language of the country they are working in.
Whilst it is required to have a knowledge of where roads are, I think it is not a pre requisite to have a detailed knowledge like in London. Times I have taken a taxi, told the driver the destination I needed and still to direct them, because they don’t know where there going
In New York all TLC cares about is making money not standards of drivers so the cab companies let anyone drive..I have personally seen a driver nodding off at a red light when I was pulled up next to him..and he had passengers in the back…I think the UK has a better system..from what I understand they have to know every street by heart and they actually take pride in being cabbies.
Couldn’t agree more!
certain areas do require you to take a driving test, but this should be every 5 years or so. Some areas you just take a written local area knowledge test.
The cars are generally, regularly tested quite rigorously its a shame the same can’t be said for the drivers!
You do not need to take an advanced driving course. Just drive at normal will suffice. You mostly drive locally with passengers, not on Brands Hatch.
No. They don’t need advanced skills. They aren’t like the police or ambulance drivers…
I`ve seen how some taxi drivers drive and wonder if they even have a licence at all !
No
they should, but they don’t
